Biodiversity Survey

Friends of Centre Vale Park have undertaken a biodiversity survey. The main purpose of the survey was to establish what species are present, both in the more formal parts of the park and the less managed habitats that adjoin it. These include the woods and the grassland which have been designated as Local Wildlife Sites (LWS).

Hundreds of species of fauna, flora and fungi have been identified; 534 separate species have so far been identified. The park is already recognised as having historical, cultural and social importance. This biodiversity survey shows that it also has a significant role to play in local wildlife conservation and has the potential to be used for education and increasing awareness of the natural world on our doorstep.
